Retail destination owner and developer Hammerson has launched a new visual search app tool, 'Style Seeker', with AI-based technology solutions provider, Cortexica.
The feature amalgamates traditional shopping methods with smartphone purchasing. It aims to enhance the shopping experience, increase shopper engagement and drive footfall and is available exclusively in all Hammerson shopping centres including Westquay, The Oracle, Cabot Circus, Centrale & Whitgift, Brent Cross, Bullring, Highcross, Victoria Leeds, Silverburn, Union Square and Dundrum.
The launch marks the next step in Hammerson's strategy to enable a seamless omnichannel experience across its shopping centres. Hammerson first experimented with shopping centre apps in 2014 in France. The 'PLUS' app has now been integrated across the UK and French shopping centre portfolio and over 300,000 shoppers have already downloaded it.
‘Style Seeker’ App users are able to take photos of fashion items, or upload saved images from their phones, to locate similar clothing products available in popular retail stores such as River Island, Miss Selfridge, Topshop and Reiss. The app searches by colour, shape and pattern and directs users to stores in their nearest Hammerson shopping centres.
Once the user has selected the desired product, the app guides the user to the store if they are physically in the centre.
